Dundee is a prime example of how Scotland benefits from being part of the UK, Scotland Office Minister David Mundell told the House of Commons today.

Mr Mundell was responding to a question from Dundee West MP Jim McGovern at this week’s Scottish Questions in Westminster.

Mr Mundell said:

The Regional Air Connectivity Fund has successfully secured the air link between Dundee and London; ensuring key industries remain connected to the rest of the UK.

In addition, Dundee’s video games sector has been given a major boost through tax relief measures which we introduced.

We’ve also provided millions of pounds to the city’s well respected universities through research council funding.

The Verdant Works museum enjoyed a £1.8m Heritage Lottery Fund award towards the restoration of A-listed derelict buildings.

As part of the UK we have economic security, international influence and the best of both worlds.

Mr McGovern asked Mr Mundell what assessment his Department has made of the effect of the Regional Air Connectivity Fund on Scotland.
