Edward Stringer has been reappointed as Trustee of the Imperial War Museum
The Prime Minister has reappointed Air Marshal Edward Stringer as RAF Trustee of the Imperial War Museum for a 4 year term commencing on 01 November 2024.

Appointed for four years from 01 November 2024 to 31 October 2028.
Edward is a recently retired senior RAF officer (Air Marshal/3*) whose early years were spent as a fast-jet pilot, but whose later career in higher command positions included time as the Director General of the Defence Academy, the director of military operations in the MOD, and the effective deputy chief of the RAF. He has been on the boards of the RAF, Civil Aviation Authority, and the Defence Nuclear Enterprise. He is a trustee of the Imperial War Museum. Since leaving he has split his portfolio between consultancy here and overseas, and in writing articles on defence and security for the FT, D-Telegraph, Spectator and The Atlantic. He has been married for 33 years to Louise, a GP in North Yorkshire, and they have two adult children.
Remuneration and Governance Code
Trustees of the Imperial War Museum are not remunerated. This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election. Edward has not declared any significant political activity.
