Press release

Essential maintenance work planned for M4 Junction 22 roundabout

There will be full overnight closures on the M49 and the M4 slip roads at junction 22 next week to allow essential resurfacing work to take place.

The M4 slip roads eastbound and westbound at Junction 22 and a full closure on the M49 in both directions will be in place between 8pm and 6am from the evening of Monday, 24 November until the morning of Friday, 28 November.

The surface on the roundabout at Junction 22 and the associated slip roads has come to the end of its working life and needs to be replaced.

Chris Pope, Highways Agency project sponsor, said:

The work is being carried out overnight when traffic flows are at their lowest but road users are advised to plan ahead and allow longer for their journeys.

Road users wanting to travel northbound on the M49 should take the M5 northbound instead to M5 junction 15 and join the M4 westbound at junction 20.

Traffic wishing to travel south should leave the M4 at junction 20 and then join the M5 southbound.
