EU Local Statement on the violent incidents that occurred on 30 December in The Gambia

The EU Heads of Mission accredited to The Gambia condemn the violent incidents that occurred in connection with an alleged coup attempt which took place in Banjul on 30 December.

They call on all parties to refrain from any further violence and recall that the EU rejects any unconstitutional change of power.

They also call for calm and urge that those detained are treated under the due process of law.
