The forthcoming GREAT Week mission to Vietnam takes place from 29th September to 5th October 2013. It has a focused programme for UK education and vocational training companies looking to expand in a strong developing market.

The planned programme includes:

  • receptions
  • sector-specific business networking events

The programme will be hosted by the British Business Group Vietnam (BBVG) and Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in both Hanoi and Hoh Chi Minh City. The events will give UK companies direct contact with Vietnamese officials and buyers.

Vietnam’s vocational skills gap

As its economy develops, there is a real and rapidly growing need for vocational training in Vietnam. Although academic education is strong, employers and investors in Vietnam increasingly demand employees with a greater range of skills and knowledge outside the normal path of academic study; for example, food hygiene and health and safety.

The potential for UK educators to meet these demands was confirmed during two high level visits to the UK early in 2013. These all saw UK training bodies and their internationally recognised standards of teaching and qualifications at the forefront of meeting Vietnam’s vocational training needs.
