Extension of two Trustees at the National Museums Liverpool

The Secretary of State has extended the terms of Carmel Booth and Dr Nicola Thorp at National Museums Liverpool by one year from 25 January 2019.

Carmel Booth

Carmel is a chartered accountant and Partner at Calderstones Consulting, previously at KPMG and Deloitte. She has more than 20 years’ experience of providing commercial, strategic and financial advice to businesses, local government and government departments on transformation programmes, infrastructure and a wide range of transactions and specialist projects. Carmel is also a board member of the University of Liverpool and Atlantic Gateway.

Dr Nicola Thorp

Nicola is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Merseyside, specialising in the treatment of breast cancer and radiotherapy for children’s cancers. Her major research interest is in the field of paediatric brain tumours.

She is National Paediatric Radiotherapy Advisor to NHS England and is a member of the Children’ Cancer and Leukaemia Group Executive. She was Chair of the CCLG Brain Tumour Group to 2018 and Associate Medical Director at Clatterbridge between 2010 and 2016.

She lives in Oxton,Wirral with her husband and 3 children.

This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election. Carmel and Nicola have declared no such activity.
