Family Procedure Rules Committee: practitioner member appointed

Ministers have approved the appointment of Laura Coyle as Practitioner Member of the Family Procedure Rules Committee for 3 years from 1 August 2023.

Ministers have approved the appointment of Laura Coyle as Practitioner Member of the Family Procedure Rules Committee for 3 years from 1 August 2023.

Biography

Laura Coyle qualified as a solicitor in 2007. A Partners at Freemans Solicitors in London, she has a broad Children law practice including representing children and parents in international family law matters concerning the movement of children and in complex public law proceedings, often working alongside CAFCASS guardians on behalf of the child. Laura has been a member of the Law Society Children subcommittee since 2018 and is currently Co-vice Chair of the Child Abduction Lawyers Association. 

She has not declared any political activity.

The appointment as a Practitioner Member of the FPRC is made under Section 77(2) of the Courts Act 2003.

The appointment is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
