FCO Special Representative for Climate Change visits Oslo
Norwegian government, industry and civic leaders agree on need for practical, business-focused results linked to UN climate change talks.
Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti was in Oslo (from 28 to 29 May) for talks with senior Norwegian officials, business leaders, think-tanks and environmental organisations about the UK’s long-term strategy for a successful Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015. The visit strengthened bilateral cooperation on international climate change and complemented the dialogue on energy security, trade & investment and development issues.
Admiral Morisetti also gave an interview for the international news programme on the Norwegian Broadcasting Channel (NRK). This was an opportunity to explain how the UK sees the security implications of climate change, including the food-energy-water link and what the UK government is doing to address these challenges. The interview with Espen Aas, NRK’s soon-to-be London correspondent, also provided an opportunity to re-visit the 4 degree map, which Admiral Morisetti launched on his first visit to Norway in November 2009.
