Foreign Office Minister calls for justice for Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky

Minister for Europe David Lidington has spoken after news that the Russian Investigative Committee has extended their investigation into the death of Sergei Magnitsky.

He said:

“I note with concern that the Russian Investigative Committee has again extended their investigation into the alleged torture and tragic death of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in 2009. Many unanswered questions remain about the circumstances surrounding Mr Magnitsky’s death.

“I urge the Russian government to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice without further delay, and measures are put in place to prevent such cases from happening again.”
