Foreign Office Minister visits France

Minister for Europe David Lidington visited Paris from 6-7 September.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

During the two day visit, the Minister for Europe met French Europe Minister Pierre Lellouche and the French Prime Minister’s European Union adviser Gilles Briatta.

The meetings focussed on a number of issues, these include the upcoming UK/France Summit on 5 November, bilateral defence cooperation, the EU Budget and EU External issues such as this month’s European Council, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Balkans.

Today, the Minister met think tank “Cercle des Europeens” in a breakfast meeting hosted by the British Ambassador. During this meeting they debated EU and UK & France isssues.

The Minister for Europe will now travel to Strasbourg to meet MEPs to discuss a range of economic and social issues.
