Speaking after the meeting William Hague said:
“The new Advisory Group on Human Rights has had an excellent start. This government is determined to champion the effective promotion of human rights. We discussed a wide range of human rights issues relating to conflict, security, counter-terrorism, and political and religious freedom, as well as specific countries of concern and broader strategic trends. I am confident that the group will be an important addition to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s work. I thank all the members of the group for their participation and look forward to our next meeting.”
