Foreign Secretary congratulates new President of Republic of Cyprus

William Hague says he looks forward to working with new President of the Republic of Cyprus and strengthening bilateral ties.

Speaking following today’s elections in the Republic of Cyprus, Foreign Secretary, William Hague said:

I congratulate Nicos Anastasiades on his election as President of the Republic of Cyprus. The UK and Cyprus share a long history and enjoy a deep-rooted bilateral relationship that is underpinned by our EU and Commonwealth links. I look forward to working with Mr Anastasiades and his government, and strengthening even further the close ties that bind our two countries.
