Foreign Secretary meets Ghanaian Foreign Minister
Philip Hammond and Hanna Tetteh discuss further deepening UK – Ghana ties
The Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, and Minister for Africa, James Duddridge, today met the Ghanaian Foreign Minister, Hanna Tetteh, to discuss the UK - Ghana relationship. Following the meeting Philip Hammond said:
The UK and Ghana have a deep-rooted relationship, reflected by our regular dialogue on commercial and security issues. We agreed to further deepen the strong trade and investment ties between Ghana, West Africa’s second largest economy, and the UK through our High Level Prosperity Partnership which promotes collaboration in the oil and gas and other key sectors in Ghanaian economy.
I am grateful for the strong leadership shown by Ghana during its recent tenure as Chair of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States). Ghana showed real leadership in agreeing to host the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response which continues to make a real contribution in tackling one of the worst health epidemics that the region and international community has had to face.
