Foreign Secretary sends condolences after plane crash in Russia

The Foreign Secretary expresses condolences for the loss of life in the plane crash in Kazan, Tatarstan, where 50 people lost their lives.

The Foreign Secretary, William Hague, has expressed condolences for the loss of life caused by the plane crash in Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan, where 50 people including one British National lost their lives.

The Foreign Secretary said:

I was saddened to learn of the loss of life following yesterday’s aeroplane crash. My thoughts are with the friends and family of those involved. We are providing consular assistance to the family of the British National whose death has now sadly been confirmed, and our British Embassy in Moscow will remain in close contact with the Russian authorities as they respond to this tragedy.
