Foreign Secretary sends condolences on death of Adolfo Suárez
William Hague offers condolences to people of Spain, calls former Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez a great democrat and leader.
Speaking after hearing the news that Adolfo Suárez had passed away in Madrid, Foreign Secretary William Hague said:
I should like to express my condolences to the people and Government of Spain on the death of their former Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez, a great democrat and a great leader, who, working with King Juan Carlos I, led Spain along the difficult path from dictatorship to democracy in the 1970s and paved the way for the country to become the modern European nation that it is today.
