Foreign Secretary welcomes release of Nasrin Sotoudeh
UK hopes to see continued improvements in Iran human rights record under President Rouhani’s government.
Commenting today, Foreign Secretary William Hague said:
I welcome reports that a number of Iranian political prisoners, including human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh, have been released from prison today. This will come as a great relief to their families and supporters around the world. The UK has previously called for Nasrin Sotoudeh’s release and for the release of all political prisoners in Iran. The UK hopes to see further improvements in Iran’s human rights record under President Rouhani’s new government.
