Further changes to our special imports digital service

Changes to our special imports digital service will affect UK veterinary surgeons and WDA holders who hold and supply imported medicines.

From 15 July 2024 Special Import Certificate (SIC) applications will only be accepted via the new digital service.

In January 2024, we launched our new special imports digital service for UK veterinary surgeons applying for Special Import Certificates. We did this to make the service easier to use, more secure and reliable and to meet accessibility legislation.

On 15 July 2024, we will be decommissioning the original online special import scheme. If you are a UK practising veterinary surgeon and have not signed up to the new special imports digital service, we strongly encourage you to register before 15 July as after this date SIC applications can only be made using the new digital service.

Wholesale Dealers

From 15 July 2024 a new digital  service for wholesale dealers applying for a WDIC will also be made available.

If you are a wholesale dealer who holds and supplies imported medicines to valid import certificate holders, from 15 July 2024, you will be able to apply for your WDICs using our new digital service.

You can find further details and a helpful video on our VMD Connect page.
