Read about the GCA's latest annual report.

The GCA has published its annual report and accounts for the financial year 2023-24.

Throughout the year covered by the report, businesses in the groceries sector sought to move back towards more normal operations as inflation reduced and the impact of several other issues lessened. The GCA’s 2024 annual survey showed signs of improvement in the relationships between suppliers and Retailers, including a decrease in the proportion of suppliers experiencing a Code issue.

The report covers the GCA’s work during 2023-24 to repair relationships, tackle issues and move the sector onto a stronger footing, including:

  • The application of the principles of the 7 Golden Rules to requests for cost price decreases.
  • Examination of changing supply chain structures and the impact of Retailers’ addition or removal of intermediaries.
  • Focus on other issues affecting suppliers, including de-listing procedures, buyer behaviour and training, Retailers “Requiring” certain actions, goods-in processes and retrospective audits.

The annual report also fulfils the GCA’s statutory reporting requirements, providing an update on its financial position.
