Mr Glen Kennett was recently awarded for his outstanding contribution to HMRC particularly in countering illicit tobacco trafficking globally.
Mr Glen Kennett, who was the Fiscal Crime Liaison Officer with the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur from 2014-2018, was recently awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) honour by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the 2019 New Year’s Honour List.
Mr Kennett was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs during his posting in Malaysia, particularly in countering illicit cigarette trafficking globally, thereby saving the UK government from lost revenue. Mr Kennett was also instrumental in strengthening the partnership with law enforcement agencies in Malaysia, as demonstrated in a number of collaborations and capacity building programmes. Mr Kennett’s voluntary work in football coaching for local children and involvement in community theatre whilst in Malaysia further burnished his credentials.
Her Excellency Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, British High Commissioner to Malaysia said:
I am delighted that Mr Glen Kennett has been awarded an MBE from HM The Queen. It is hugely deserved. Mr Kennett performed outstandingly during his posting to Malaysia and his work contributed enormously to the benefit of the UK.
Mr Kennett, who has since completed his posting in Malaysia, said:
I am truly humbled to receive this honour for the privilege of representing Her Majesty’s government in Malaysia. Working with colleagues at the High Commission and in cooperation with a number of Malaysian government departments has been a fulfilling experience. My family and I will fondly remember our time in Malaysia.
