Governor hosts Conference for Caribbean Overseas Territory colleagues
Governors from the Bermuda and the Caribbean Overseas Territories visit Cayman to discuss regional matters and issues of common interest.
The Conference, was hosted at Government House on Friday 27 March, and was attended by the Governors of Anguilla, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, and Montserrat. Senior officials from the Overseas Territories Directorate in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office also attended. The annual Governors’ Conference is usually held in Miami; this is the first time that it has been hosted in a territory.
Prior to the Conference, the Governors visited Health City Cayman Islands to hear how the hospital is building on its plan to reach out to the Caribbean region and beyond. The visitors also met with the Acting Premier, the Acting Deputy Governor and attended the RCIPS Gala Awards Dinner.
Her Excellency the Governor said; “I am pleased to welcome my colleagues from across the Caribbean. This is the first time that the Governors’ Conference has been held in an Overseas Territory; I’m delighted to be able to showcase the beauty and energy of the Cayman Islands to our visitors.”
