The ball is heading for the World Cup to be held in Brazil in June. It is accompanied by two representatives of the organization: Andrew Aris and Rosalyn Noerz who will be visiting Guatemala from 14 to 21 March.

On their journey, the representatives from “Spirit of Football” have been sharing the joy of this sport with people and organizations from all backgrounds. In Guatemala the project supports the work of Special Olympics under the slogan “one ball, one world”.

The welcoming Ceremony in Guatemala was attended by Mr. Dwight Pezzarrossi, Presidential Commissioner for Sport; Mrs. Sarah Dickson, British Ambassador to Guatemala; Mr. Francisco Ardon, Deputy Minister of Sports and Recreation, and Irene Eduardo, President of Special Olympics Guatemala.

The British Ambassador to Guatemala, Her Excellency Sarah Dickson said:

I congratulate Special Olympics for their initiative to make sport easily accessible to everyone equally and I share the values that have brought this football to Guatemala today. Sport helps Guatemala foster an atmosphere that says no to violence and yes to the principles of fair play, solidarity and unity among peoples.

Ambassador Dickson, the authorities and public present at the activity signed the ball as an unequivocal symbol of support to the principles that this organization seeks to promote in Guatemala and elsewhere in the world.
