Hackathon Agro 2017
Applications now open for the Hackathon Agro. This activity will take place once again this year on 9 and 10 September at ExpoPrado.
The Hackathon Agro is an activity where multidisciplinary teams made up of entrepreneurs, academics and agricultural experts join forces with the sole aim of resolving challenges that the Uruguayan agricultural sector faces through the use of technology.
On 9 and 10 September 2017 the British Embassy, ARU, Cuti and Fundación da Vinci will co-organize the 2nd Hackathon Agro at Expo Prado 2017. This will be an open competition for teams of researchers, entrepreneurs and experts in information technology, agriculture and business from all over the country to participate in.
The challenge will be to present a business model and a minimum viable product or prototype, in order to solve one or several agricultural problems in Uruguay through the use of technology. These challenges will be given to participants for resolution on the first day.
The prize will be air trip and four-night accommodation to attend the conference “Game Changing Technologies for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy” and visit Harper Adams University.
Hackathon is a horizontal and intensive dynamic where participants use individual experiences and skills for the purpose of developing concrete solutions together. Joint work amongst peers for the resolution of problems is promoted. It focuses on the work process as a learning opportunity and is highly dependent on the motivation of the participants. It also provides an unique occasion for creativity.
