Refugees in Namibia celebrate World Refugee Day

Today the United Nations are celebrating World Refugee Day. The World Refugee Day is a day to recognize the contributions of refugees in their communities. The day honours the courage, the strength, and determination of women, men, and children, who are forced to flee their homeland under threat of persecution, conflict and violence. The motto of this year’s World Refugee Day is “One refugee in this world remains one too many”. On the occasion of World Refugee Day 2013, Dr. Lawrence Mbangson, Resident Representative of the UNHCR in Namibia, invited the international community to celebrate alongside the UNHCR and the refugees in the UNHCR Resettlement Camp Osire in Namibia. HE Mrs Marianne Young attended the event. She shares her impressions about the day on the [blog] (http://blogs.fco.gov.uk/marianneyoung/2013/06/20/visit-to-osire-refugee-camp-in-central-namiba/)
