Helen Campbell announced as new Ofwat board member

Former Director at the Infrastructure Projects Authority appointed as Senior Director for Sector Performance

Helen Campbell has today (9 November 2023) been appointed to the Ofwat board.

Helen joins Ofwat – the independent economic regulator of water services in England and Wales – to take up the role of Senior Director for Sector Performance. She will lead on improving water company performance and corporate behaviour, as well as driving innovation across the sector.

Helen’s appointment follows a fair and open recruitment process by Ofwat and her subsequent appointment to the board has been approved by the Environment Secretary.

Helen joins Ofwat from the Infrastructure Projects Authority where she has been Director of Strategy, Performance and Assurance since 2021. She will fill the vacancy currently held in the interim by Andrew Chesworth.

Biography

  • Helen previously worked in Director roles across the National Grid over a 13-year tenure, latterly as Director of Strategy, Performance and Assurance in National Grid Gas Transmission.
  • Prior to joining the National Grid, she held positions in consulting, financial services, and energy companies.
  • Helen holds a degree in Economics from Nottingham University and an MA in European Economics from the College of Europe.
