High Commission visits Eastern Uganda

Political team holds meetings with MPs, government and NGOs in Kamuli, Pallisa and Mbale.

From 25 to 27 August, Joe Bolton, Head of Political Team, and Christine Kyosiimirwe, Political Officer at the British High Commission in Kampala visited Kamuli, Pallisa and Mbale districts in Eastern Uganda. During their visit, they met MPs and representatives of local and national government in each district. They also visited community income-generating projects supported by the British Council’s Active Citizens programme in Pallisa and a number of partnership initiatives in Mbale supported by the PONT (Partnerships Overseas Networking Trust) partnership with South Wales.

High Commission staff make regular visits to the various regions of Uganda. These include monitoring and evaluation of current or completed projects, consular outreach to the British community and familiarisation with the social, economic and political situation in the country.

Mr Bolton and Ms Kyosiimirwe used the opportunity of their visit to Eastern Uganda to see at first hand the impact that British organisations and initiatives are having in this region.
