UK Supports Mauritius efforts to boost security at SSR International Airport by providing aviation security equipment and guidance

The British High Commissioner, Nick Leake formally handed over last week specialist aviation security equipment to the Mauritian Department of Civil Aviation.

The equipment, including: test pieces for X-ray machines and ‘Walk Through Metal Detectors’; Hand Held Metal Detectors; and a selection of UK Department for Transport Aviation Security DVDS and other training aids, will assist in broadening aviation security detection capability at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

The High Commissioner congratulated the acting Director of Civil Aviation for the new airport and said: “Aviation Security is a global issue and the UK Government is keen to continue its close working relationship with the authorities in Mauritius in order to strengthen the existing aviation security regime and to work together to tackle global threats.”
