British High Commissioner HE Alison Blackburne speaks at the event

HE Alison Blackburne hosted an event at the British High Commission, organised by British Council Uganda, to honour women leaders from Northern Uganda.

The event was also attended by the Deputy High Commissioner, Mary Shockledge, Peter Brown, Head of British Council Uganda, and the Head of DFID Uganda, Jennie Barugh. The Ugandan women leaders present gave presentations about their work and the challenges they face, and had the opportunity to ask questions of the High Commissioner and her team.

British Council Uganda is working to develop female community leaders in rural and urban areas of Uganda, and today’s event was the latest in a programme of engagement to increase their capacity and skill.
