Homes England acquires Teville Gate as part of regeneration of Worthing
The acquisition drives forward plans to regenerate the area and bring a challenging brownfield site back to life.
Homes England has acquired Teville Gate, a significant site for brownfield regeneration in Worthing, as part of plans to regenerate the area and create around 250 much needed homes.
Homes England is now working on high-quality proposals for the site, to provide vital new homes in a prominent location in Worthing. Teville Gate is located in the town centre, near to the town’s train station, and in close proximity to bus routes and local facilities. The intention for the site is to create a sustainable development with well-designed open spaces and improved pedestrian and cycle routes.
Homes England has agreed to acquire the site immediately, to then lease it back to Worthing Borough Council while it carries out the preparatory work, ensuring that the site can be used for other purposes whilst plans for the site are developed.

Teville Gate is key regeneration area for Worthing and a challenging brownfield site that has the potential to have a transformational impact on the town.

Our ambition remains the creation of sustainable, high-quality and genuinely affordable homes for our residents. We believe Homes England is the ideal partner to realise those ambitions for Worthing.
I’m excited that within months this barren land will be back in use for the community while the work to unlock the potential of this site begins.
Teville Gate was bought by the council for in 2021 to drive forward its regeneration and is the first site in the south east to be purchased by Homes England through the Brownfield Infrastructure and Land Fund (BIL).
