Honduran National Autonomous University hosts BREXIT forum
The British Embassy, the Economy Department of the National Autonomous University of Honduras and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an academic forum in San Pedro Sula to better understand the effects of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, usually known as “Brexit”.

The activity was held in the Honduran National Autonomous University of the Sula Valley (UNAH-VS) and featured the presentations of Mr Andrew Tate, Chargé d’Affaires of the British Embassy in Guatemala and concurrent for Honduras; Mr Carlos Murillo, Director of the Faculty of Government and Public Policy at the University of Costa Rica; and Mario Flores, Head of the Economics Department at UNAH-VS.
In the presence of numerous guests, including students, professors, members of the business community and the press, the experts explored a number of issues, such as the international effects of “Brexit”. They also discussed the position of the UK Government following the referendum decision to leave the EU, the potential impact of this on the Honduran economy and the UK relationship with the rest of Europe.
For the UK Government the forum was an opportunity to reiterate its commitment towards Honduras and Latin America, as evidenced in a series of key areas, such as the economy, the rule of law, the fight against corruption and the protection of individual freedoms.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is a non-profit organization, influenced by Christian Democrat values and principles. It works in coordination with official institutions, political parties, and civil society organizations, supporting a continued dialogue about politics, economy and law. Amongst its working priorities, the foundation develops projects on citizen engagement, institutional stability and good governance.
