His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester will visit Germany on 26 April 2015 to attend the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Bergen Belsen concentration camp. Bergen Belsen was liberated by British and Canadian armed forces in 1945. His Royal Highness is coming at the invitation of Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Stephan Weil.

Background

The commemoration at Bergen Belsen is being hosted by the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Stephan Weil, and the “Landesverband der jüdischen Gemeinden von Niedersachsen”. The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Joachim Gauck, will also attend.
