HRH The Princess Royal visits Peru
Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, Princess Anne visits Peru for the third time.
The visit (from 12 to 17 September) showcased importance of UK-Peru relations in areas such as sport, food, healthcare, and scientific research.
In her capacity as Head of Great Britain’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) delegation, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal came to Lima, Peru, to attend the annual IOC meeting, including voting for the 2024 Summer Olympic host city.
While in Lima Her Royal Highness took the opportunity to meet Peruvian President Kuczynski and visit the International Potato Centre. As part of cultural association Británico’s 80th anniversary celebrations, Her Royal Highness also unveiled a statue of British Peruvian Admiral Guise in the Municipality of San Borja.
Her Royal Highness was the guest of honour at a Food is GREAT dinner at the Ambassador’s Residence. World-famous Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez created the menu which added Peruvian twists to classic British dishes.
On behalf of The Vine Trust, a UK charity of which Her Royal Highness is Patron, The Princess Royal travelled to Loreto Region, and the small community of Oran, to inaugurate a medical ship. The ship, the Forth Hope, was built in Scotland and will provide high-quality healthcare to remote Amazonian communities.

Improving healthcare in remote areas has been a priority for my Embassy, and I was delighted that the Vine Trust is continuing its work in Peru. I’m grateful to Her Royal Highness for having taking the time to come back to Peru for a third time.
The Princess Royal previously visited Peru in 1997 and 2007.
