Human rights in Libya - Abu Saleem prison

Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt visited the ruin of Abu Saleem prison where 1200 prisoners were shot dead on Qadhafi's orders in 1996.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Today the prison is a reminder of the abuses of human rights under the Qadhafi regime.

In this video Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt talks about how the UK will work with a new Libya, one which will never forget its past, but will look forward as a country that is based on transparency, accountability and human rights.
