Improvements to A27 in East Sussex
Work to resurface sections of the A27 near Bexhill in East Sussex, which will improve road safety and ensure smoother journeys for road users, will take place next week.
The Highways Agency is resurfacing the road in both directions between the Jubilee Roundabout, Stone Cross, and Pevensey Rounabout, near Bexhill in East Sussex.
It will take place for a week from Monday 24 March until Sunday 30 March between the hours of 8pm and 6am. It will involve one overnight closure of the road in both directions with a nearby diversion route, roundabout junction closures with two way traffic lights, and an overnight closure of a nearby service station.
Anita Waterton, Project Sponsor for the Highways Agency, said:
“This work is part of our commitment to safe and reliable journeys on the A27.
“This section will only be closed for one night’s work and a diversion route that runs parallel will be put in place to ensure minimum disruption for road users.
“Additionally overnight work will help ensure that journeys at peak hours are disrupted as little as possible.”
Overnight on Monday 24 March and Tuesday 25 March work will take place at the Pevensey Roundabout, with two way traffic lights to direct road users past lane closures. There will be closures at the roundabout junctions of the Wartling Road and A259 Bexhill Road and road users are advised to follow fully signed diversion routes. Access to Pevensey services will be closed overnight between 24 March and 25 March only – with staff onsite being escorted through the work.
A full road closure between the two roundabouts will take place overnight on Wednesday 26 March, with a parallel diversion route taking road users past the area of work in both directions. The route will take road users via the A22, B2247, Rattle Road, B2191 and the A259. Pevensey Roundabout itself will remain open.
