The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) is bringing together a delegation of Indian oil and gas organisations at the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) Offshore Europe in Aberdeen in the UK, 5 to 8 September.

The delegation includes India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry and 4 private companies. The Indian delegation is being led by senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, to take forward the existing bilateral partnership between UK and India.

At the first ever UK-India Ministerial Energy for Growth Dialogue in April 2017, British Secretary of State for Energy, Greg Clark and Indian Minister for Oil and Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan agreed to further the collaborations between the 2 countries in the oil and gas sector.

SPE Offshore Europe hosts technical sessions, conferences, workshops, exhibitions from global industry players across the value chain and brings together members engaged in energy resources development and production.

The conference enables businesses and trade bodies to keep abreast with the most significant technologies and helps them connect with a global network of over 50,000 international attendees.

DIT India is organising a session on the ‘Opportunities in the India’s Oil and Gas Sector’ on 5 September. The session will enable the Indian delegation to interact with leading British exploration and production companies, world-class technology providers and specialist technical services companies.

This session is followed by a session by the Government of India, which will showcase their latest policy reforms, designed to attract new international operators.

Andy Barr, Head of Trade and Investment at the British High Commission New Delhi said:

Since the turn of the Century, UK companies are responsible for over one third of all FDI into India’s oil and gas industry. Companies such as British Petroleum and Shell have a long-established presence and, as India intensifies its offshore, deep water exploration and production, the UK’s experience in the North Sea and Continental Shelf which has created a business infrastructure of over 3,000 companies means there is enormous potential to enhance our collaboration.

We’re bringing together British investors and export-ready companies with the visiting Indian delegation to look at opportunities for commercial partnerships across investment, services, technology and skills.

The delegation will also visit high-end manufacturing facilities and meet with UK organisations such as GE Oil & Gas, Expro, Robert Gordon University and SMD Ltd.
