Insolvency Service work recognised at Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency Awards
The Insolvency Service and Special Managers were awarded Insolvency Team of the Year at Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards 2020.
The TRI Awards is an internationally recognised annual event, where the public and private sectors come together to showcase insolvency best practice. Two of our teams were shortlisted.
Our colleagues who worked on the Thomas Cook liquidation were awarded Insolvency Team of the Year for their rapid response and collaborative working. The award was also shared with Special Managers at KPMG and AlixPartners.
The team’s work included supporting the repatriation of over 150,000 holidaymakers within two weeks, the preservation of around 2,500 jobs following the sale of Thomas Cook’s retail portfolio comprising 551 stores, and asset realisation work.
Gareth Allen, deputy official receiver for the Thomas Cook cases, said of the award:
I’m delighted that the Thomas Cook liquidation team has had this well-deserved recognition of the excellent work they did in coming together as a team, bringing expertise both internally and externally to manage this complex liquidation.
