On International Friendship Day, the British Embassy in Cairo is launching a photo competition for amateur photographers in search of the best images which demonstrate the friendship between the UK and Egypt.

We are looking for a broad range of images that are creative, positive and of good quality. These might show a personal friendship, or demonstrate an ongoing cultural link between the UK and Egypt.

The deadline for photo entries is 20th September 2013 and voting for the top 10 images will take place on the Embassy Facebook page UK in Egypt between 20th and 30th September.

The winner of the competition will be invited to one of our cultural events and the top 10 will have their photographs displayed in an exhibition at the British Council.

All entries should be sent to the embassy via email titled “International Friendship Day Photography competition”. The email address to which entries should be submitted is cairo.photocompetition@gmail.com Along with the image, make sure to include this information in your email:

Selected photographs will be available for viewing on the British Embassy Cairo Facebook page for two weeks. Visitors to the page will have the opportunity to express views on the best photograph, but a jury of embassy staff will make the final decision on the best photographs. This will be conclusive and no appeals will be entertained. The British Embassy will own the copyright of all photos submitted and will be free to use them on their websites and publications without reference or any compensation, permission or notification to the contestant or any third party.
