Israel terror attacks: compensation for victims
How to apply for compensation if you were a victim of the terrorist attacks in Israel starting on 7 October 2023.
The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs has designated the attacks in Israel starting from, but not limited to, 7 October 2023 as acts of terrorism. This means applications can be made to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) under the Victims of Overseas Terrorism Compensation Scheme 2012 (VOTCS) by those victims injured, or the families of those killed, in the attacks. You can get more information in CICA’s guide to the VOTCS.
You do not need a paid representative, such as a solicitor or claims management company, to apply for compensation.
Free independent advice may be available from Victim Support or other charitable organisations. You can get support as a victim of terrorism on GOV.UK.
