Executive Director for Government Communication, Jenny Grey, is to leave the civil service to take up a new post at Citigroup as Managing Director, Regional Head of Public Affairs for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Grey joined the Cabinet Office as Director of Communications in July 2008 before taking up her current role as Executive Director and Head of the Government Communications profession. In this role she has overseen the transformation of government communications, establishing a more collaborative approach between departments.
Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude said:
Jenny has spearheaded the reforms to government communications which we have introduced since 2010. The operation is now leaner, more agile and more strategic. It works across departmental boundaries to deliver more efficient communications and for the first time we now have an annual plan for proactive government communications. I wish Jenny well in her new role and thank her for all her work.
Cabinet Secretary, Sir Jeremy Heywood said:
I am very grateful to Jenny for her strong leadership at a critical time of change for government communications. She has laid firm foundations for the future and I wish her the best at Citigroup.
Jenny Grey said:
Whether it has been getting the GREAT campaign to promote inward investment and tourism off the ground or communicating reforms to the civil service, I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years at the Cabinet Office. I am particularly proud of the fantastic team I have built here. However, I was always clear about my plans to move on to new challenges once the major reforms to Government communication had been completed and I am delighted to be joining Citigroup at such a critical time for the industry.
Jenny will leave the Cabinet Office on 14 September 2012 and joins Citigroup on 1 October.
