Jimmy Savile NHS investigations published
Twenty-eight NHS hospitals have published the findings of their investigations into Jimmy Savile today.
The publication of these reports follows the disclosure of information by the Metropolitan Police Service in 2012 and a document review as part of a Special Police Services Agreement in 2013.
The Metropolitan Police Service information concerning Jimmy Savile and hospital settings was transferred to the Department of Health which passed this information on to the relevant organisations for investigation.
Each of the NHS hospitals has published copies of their investigation reports.
The investigations have been overseen by Kate Lampard, who was asked by the Secretary of State to provide independent assurance on behalf of the Department of Health. She has published her assurance report for the Savile investigations.
In the autumn, Kate Lampard will publish her final lessons learnt report. The investigation at Broadmoor Hospital was conducted jointly with the Department of Health, which ran the hospital between 1949 and 1989.
On behalf of the Department of Health, Permanent Secretary, Una O’Brien, issued the following statement.
