Market Adviser for temporary cover (1.5 years)

The UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Team at the British Embassy, Riga is looking to recruit an enterprising, results-oriented MARKET ADVISER to deliver business development projects for UK companies in the Latvian market.

This is a temporary position and the preferred start date is January 2014.

The successful candidate will work with a wide range of UK and international companies to develop export driven strategies and contribute to the UK’s economic growth and prosperity.

Building and managing a corporate portfolio in a challenging, client-facing environment, you will identify and anticipate customer needs and generate chargeable projects. There will be a focus on building long-term relationships with key decision makers across a spectrum of businesses and sectors.

You will develop sector/market-specific networks to facilitate and encourage strategic collaboration between UK and Latvian companies while having the ability to strengthen UKTI’s stakeholder network in Latvia and at a wider level across the Nordics.

To be successful in this role, your skills will include:

• Strong knowledge from the engineering, rail, transport and infrastructure sectors

• Ability to demonstrate strong research and analytical skills

• Experience in project management and target orientated environments

• Communication and presentation skills need to be excellent in Latvian and English. Knowledge of Russian will be looked at as an advantage

• An understanding of government and the role it plays in international trade development would be of advantage.

Salary LVL 1115,- gross per month.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. In relation to this, the successful candidate will need to arrange his/her own certificate of criminal non-convictions. You must also be permitted to work in Latvia in order to apply.
