Justine Greening re-appointed International Development Secretary

Justine Greening MP has been re-appointed Secretary of State at the Department for International Development.
Justine Greening said:
I am proud to continue my role as International Development Secretary.
I believe in a UK which stands tall in the world and shapes events around us. Our investment in international development can help create a world that, over time, is healthier, more stable and increasingly prosperous.
From tackling child marriage, to fighting Ebola in Sierra Leone, to providing lifesaving aid following disasters such as the recent earthquake in Nepal, UK aid is a force for good.
Improving the lives of the world’s poorest people means dealing with the root causes of problems that also affect us here in the UK, such as disease, migration, terrorism and climate change. This investment is also central to building markets for British businesses overseas and boosting growth in developing countries, which will end dependency on aid.
This is a crucial year for international development as the world is set to agree new global poverty targets, including a standalone goal on women and girls, that will guide action for years to come. I will ensure the UK remains at the forefront of this work to create a better world for us all.

- Justine Greening was first elected as the Conservative MP for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields in May 2005. She was first appointed Secretary of State for International Development on 4 September 2012. Ms Greening was a finance manager at Centrica plc before being elected as a Member of Parliament.
- Ms Greening attended her local comprehensive school in Rotherham, South Yorkshire before going on to study economics at Southampton University. She has an MBA from the London Business School.
