The Regulator of Social Housing has today announced the appointment of Kate Dodsworth, its current director of consumer regulation, as its first Chief of Regulatory Engagement.

At RSH, Kate has led the development of proactive consumer regulation and is a member of the Executive Team. Before joining RSH, Kate was CEO of Gateway Housing. She started her career in housing working in homelessness and has also previously held senior roles at the National Housing Federation and at Optivo Homes.

Fiona MacGregor, CEO of RSH, said:

I am delighted that Kate will become our first Chief of Regulatory Engagement and lead our expanding frontline regulation team across both economic and consumer matters. Her experience and expertise on both sides of the regulatory fence mean that she is well placed to deliver our new regulatory approach.

Kate Dodsworth said:

I’m really excited to take up this new challenge at the Regulator of Social Housing. Frontline regulation is key to ensuring that providers meet the economic challenges they face and that the Social Housing Regulation Bill delivers a real step change in social housing.

Notes to editors

  1. RSH promotes a viable, efficient and well-governed social housing sector able to deliver and maintain homes of appropriate quality that meet a range of needs. It does this by undertaking robust economic regulation focusing on governance, financial viability and value for money that maintains lender confidence and protects the taxpayer. It also sets consumer standards and may take action if these standards are breached and there is a significant risk of serious detriment to tenants or potential tenants.
