The British Embassy funded a project on developing the leadership skills and creative thinking of young Turkmen people, implemented by the UNFPA Turkmenistan Office. The project provided a very effective platform to bring together future leaders and brainstorm new ideas.

As Her Majesty’s Ambassador Thorda Abbott-Watt told the participants, the Embassy was very pleased to co-fund this kind of project and would be happy to contribute to similar projects aimed at youth development in Turkmenistan.

Teams from all five provinces in Turkmenistan demonstrated their ability to tackle problems such as ecology and plastic waste, and shared creative ways of developing digital education in schools. Despite the young age of the project participants, the proposals and ideas that they came up with were well received. Representatives from the UNFPA, British Embassy and other partner organisations expressed their hope that the next phase of the project will be the practical implementation of those ideas.
