Letter of Intent signed with Israel on joint cyber research funding

The UK government has signed a Letter of Intent with the Israeli government about joint funding for cyber research.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

This letter follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by The Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance in the Cabinet Office and the Israeli government in 2013.

It sets out an agreement that £1.2 million of joint funding will be used to fund a cyber research initiative through the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The project aims to encourage UK and Israeli academics to work together more effectively. The 6 areas, chosen in consultation with academics as the areas that will benefit most from working together, are:

  • identity management
  • governance: regulating cyber security
  • privacy assurance and perceptions
  • mobile and cloud security
  • human aspects of security or usable security
  • cryptography

The EPSRC is asking for proposals for joint research activities from 16 April to 24 June 2014. Read more and find out how to apply.
