Lighting repairs on A483 in Shropshire
The Highways Agency will be carrying out work to replace lighting cables on the A483 in Pant, Shropshire, from Wednesday 6 May, lasting two weeks.
The work involves replacing faulty cabling on 10 lighting columns over a distance of about a quarter of a mile north of the junction of the A483 North Road and the B4398 in Pant.
Highways Agency Project Manager Purnima Kaul said:
This work will replace faulty cabling which has led to lighting outages in some cases. New electronic controls will also be installed in the lighting to reduce energy use and provide more efficient lighting.
Most of the work will be carried out during the daytime using temporary traffic lights, but two night time closures will be necessary for some of the work. We advise road users to allow extra time for their journeys.
Between 6 and 21 May, there will be temporary traffic signals during the daytime during off-peak hours – 9.30am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9.30am to 3.30pm on Fridays.
In addition, the carriageway will be closed on the nights of 14 and 15 May from 8pm to 6am.
During the night time closures, a 26 mile diversion will be in place. Traffic travelling southbound towards Pant from the Oswestry diversion will be diverted south along the A5 at the Mile End roundabout, then the A458 westbound at Bicton Heath to rejoin the A483 at Buttington Cross near Welshpool. Northbound traffic will take the same diversion, but in reverse.
