London 2012 Olympic Legacy exhibition in the heart of Beirut

British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher opened an art exhibition entitled London 2012 Olympic Legacy, by Lebanese Olympian Artists Lena Kelekian and Hagop Sulahian, winners of the London 2012 Olympic Fine Arts gold medals at Piece Unique art gallery, Saifi Village.
Ambassador Fletcher said:
2012 was a great year to be British. But the legacy of the Olympics, for young people and communities, is even more important. Lena and Hagop have captured that excitement, but also that sense of purpose.
As PM David Cameron has said, ‘Whether inspiring children and young people into sport through school games, supporting our businesses through the GREAT campaign or changing lives through the urban regeneration programme, the benefits of these Games will stay with us for decades. The true legacy of London 2012 lies in the future.
The exhibition, organised by the NGO ‘MEADOWS’ and Solidere, is a follow-up to the London 2012 games that inspired change and participation, leaving a legacy in London and across the world that goes far beyond the departure of the Olympic Flame.
The exhibition displays digitally doctored images of the artists’ winning artworks that are on display at the Olympic Fine Arts Museum in a multidisciplinary fashion, as well as official Olympic medals and the Olympic torch.
