Lord Bourne hails Welsh museums during visit to the Waterfront
Lord Bourne: "Our museums provide a unique opportunity for people to learn about how our rich and proud history has helped to shape Wales in the 21st Century"
Today (Thursday 19 November) Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Wales Lord Bourne will visit the National Waterfront Museum as part of a wider visit to the area.
Lord Bourne had the opportunity to take a short tour of the site’s 15 themed galleries as well as see a brand new exhibition, Wales in Space. The exhibition showcases some of the most significant observational tools Welsh astronomers have used over the past 400 years, and the role they have played in our continuing quest to understand the universe.
Speaking about the visit, Steph Mastoris, Head of the National Waterfront Museum said:
We were delighted to welcome Lord Bourne to the Museum today. It was a great opportunity to showcase the high quality learning programmes, exhibitions and events that encourage our visitors to come back time and time again.
Wales Office Minister Lord Bourne said:
Our museums provide a unique opportunity for people to learn about how our rich and proud history has helped to shape Wales in the 21st Century. Visitors from all over the globe travel to Wales to see the world-class art and historical artefacts on display - helping to boost local tourism as this museum does in Swansea and promote Wales to the world.
With exciting exhibitions to appeal to visitors of all ages, I hope our treasured museums continue to thrive for many years to come.
