Lord Howell meets with Ayad Allawi

The Rt Hon Lord Howell, Minister of State at the Foreign Office met with Iraqi political leader Ayad Allawi in London today.

A Foreign Office spokesman said:

“Lord Howell met Ayad Allawi, the leader of Iraq’s Iraqiyya party, today to discuss the current political situation in Iraq.

Lord Howell welcomed today’s statement by the Iraqi Supreme Court on the national election and urged Iraq’s political leaders to work together to form an effective and representative government soon, with which we hoped to be able to work closely in association with our partners in the region and more widely.”
