Lord-Lieutenant for Stirling and Falkirk: Alan Simpson
Alan Simpson is appointed as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Stirling and Falkirk.
The Queen has been pleased to appoint Alan Simpson, Esq, OBE, DL, MA(Oxon), DUniv, MICE, as Lord-Lieutenant for Stirling and Falkirk to succeed Mrs Marjory McLachlan, who retires on 15 February 2017.
Biographical notes
Alan Simpson is a member of the Royal Company of Archers, Queen’s Bodyguard for Scotland. He is a technical advisor to Summit Power on Caledonian Clean Energy Project in Grangemouth and is Chairman of Lake of Menteith Fisheries Ltd. He spent most of his career working as an engineer responsible for building roads and bridges.
He is currently a Deputy Lieutenant in Stirling and Falkirk. He has held several voluntary positions including Chair of Court at the University of Stirling from 2007 to 2015, Chair of the Committee of Scottish Chairs of Higher Education Institutions from 2010 to 2013 and Chair of the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland from 1998 to 2011. He is currently Chair of the Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling and an Elder of Port of Menteith Church.
His hobbies include music, gardening, skiing and archery.
