Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear: Susan Margaret Winfield

Mrs Susan Margaret Winfield OBE DL is appointed as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Mrs Susan Margaret Winfield OBE DL as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear to succeed Sir Nigel Sherlock when he retires on 12 January 2015.

Biographical notes

Sue Winfield has lived and worked in Tyne and Wear all her life as well as holding a number of national positions. Her career was in the Probation Service ending as Deputy Chief Probation Officer in Northumbria and more recently was Chair of Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust and High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear. Within the voluntary sector she holds a number of positions in charities including Age UK Sunderland, Fine Cell Work which trains prisoners in needlework and TDI working to improve public protection. She is also a trustee director of the Community Foundation for Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.

Mrs Winfield lives in Sunderland with her husband, Tony and they have a daughter and son.
